The mouflon (Ovis gmelini) or moufflon is a wild sheep native to Cyprus, two separate parts of Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Iran. It also occurs in parts of Europe and is thought to be the ancestor of all modern domestic sheep breeds.
